Thermal Associates

We are a family-rooted heating and air conditioning team based in Glens Falls, serving customers across Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties. Marty and Marj DeVit founded Thermal Associates in 1982, building our work around heating, cooling, and emerging energy-efficient technologies. After more than 40 years, they retired in 2023 and passed the torch to Adam DeVit, who continues that focus on improved green HVAC technology.

Our experience with heat pumps reaches back to the fuel shortages of the 1970s and 1980s, when we helped pioneer air-source heat pump technology. We later moved into earth-coupled systems, now known as geothermal or ground-source heat pumps. Marty patented a heat pump in 1990 and participated in heat-pump production in the Northeast under Cantherm and Amtherm. Today, we install and service geothermal and air-source heat pumps as well as gas boilers, furnaces, air conditioners, and ductless mini-splits. We work with WaterFurnace geothermal systems and offer installation, repair, maintenance, and maintenance memberships.

Adam began learning HVAC as a helper during high-school summer breaks. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, he returned to the trade full time and trained under his father, Marty, and other professionals. He holds an IGSHPA designer certification and BPI certification and is a founding member of NY-GEO. Whether a project involves new construction or a retrofit, we take time to explore the available heating and cooling options, understand our customer’s goals, and prepare an estimate outlining available products, costs, and potential return on investment. From our home at 21 Thomson Avenue in Glens Falls, we continue to provide heating and cooling installation, repair, and maintenance throughout the greater Glens Falls area.
