Shannahan Artesian Well Co Inc

Since John Henry Kelly Shannahan established J.H.K. Shannahan Artesian Well Company in 1883, the Shannahan name has been associated with quality water systems. He is credited with drilling the first artesian well in Easton, Maryland. Today, we continue that tradition by providing well drilling, maintenance, and related services for homes, irrigation systems, agricultural operations, municipalities, and geothermal energy applications. We are licensed in Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia, allowing us to serve customers throughout Delmarva and in parts of Maryland’s Western Shore.

We operate five drilling rigs and five service rigs. Our experienced team includes four master well drillers, four journeymen well drillers, and two apprentice well drillers. Most of our employees have been with us for more than 20 years. We drill 4-inch PVC wells for homes, gardens, and lawn sprinkler systems, and we install and service irrigation wells ranging from small residential systems to agricultural systems requiring up to 800 gallons per minute. We also install irrigation pumps, including hand pitcher pumps and variable-speed systems. For replacement wells, we can coordinate permitting, scheduling, and the necessary electrical and plumbing connections.

Our capabilities also include municipal wells, water testing for bacteria by MDE-certified technicians, concrete penetrations, utility sleeves, and certified link seal installation. We also own Peninsula Water Conditioning Co., Inc. For geothermal projects, we install vertical loops and work directly with HVAC contractors to calculate system tonnage and determine the number of loops needed. Our trained and certified system designers help coordinate this work, and our CleanSiteDrilling option is intended to minimize disruption to the surrounding yard. With our mailing address in St. Michaels and our office in Easton, we remain committed to combining the resources needed for substantial projects with reliable, courteous, and personal service.
