About Sam's Well Drilling
Our roots in well drilling go back to 1947, when Sam Vander Galien Sr. traded in his Model A Ford to purchase a cable-tool drilling rig. Sam Jr. bought the operation from his father in 1978, and we expanded our drilling operations in the years that followed. In 1986, Sam’s oldest son, Jim, began drilling wells, following in his father’s footsteps. Sam’s son Sid and son-in-law Ray later joined us as well. Today, we remain family owned by the Vander Galien family, including Sam Jr. and his wife Sylvia, Jim, Sid, and Ray.
Based in Randolph, Wisconsin, we serve customers throughout Wisconsin, northern Illinois, eastern Iowa, and southeastern Minnesota. We work with families, communities, and businesses across the Midwest, specializing in water well, irrigation, and horizontal directional drilling. For well projects, we can assist from site evaluation and permitting through drilling and well construction, working closely with qualified pump installers in the customer’s area to help complete the project.
Our full-time mechanics service our equipment and help keep it operating in top condition. That in-house support is an important part of providing the quality, efficient, and prompt service we value. Although our equipment, team, and capabilities have changed over the years, our purpose has remained steady: to provide our customers with a quality water supply through prompt and courteous service. From our home on Pleasant Road in Randolph, we carry forward the practical, family-centered approach that began with Sam Sr.’s drilling rig.
