Rodney B Smith Plg & Heating

We’ve served customers since August 1983, when Rodney B. Smith established Rodney B. Smith Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, Inc. Today, we’re based at 940 Hollywell Avenue in Chambersburg. Rodney’s interest in plumbing began much earlier, when he helped his grandfather on jobs as a teenager. After excelling in the plumbing program at the Franklin County Career and Technology Center, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. There, he completed advanced training in pipe fitting, high-pressure silver brazing, induction brazing, and boiler operation and maintenance. His qualifications gave him the opportunity to work on nuclear-powered submarines, and he continued serving in the Reserves for several years after active duty.

Following his military service, Rodney worked as a lead plumbing mechanic for Kottcamp Mechanical Contractors, including on a major renovation at Chambersburg Hospital. He earned his Master Plumber’s License in 1982 and began serving customers under his own name the following year. As demand grew, we added employees and expanded our HVAC work in 1990 with the goal of offering complete mechanical contracting. Today, we handle commercial, industrial, and residential projects and services, with commercial work accounting for about 85% of the work we complete.

For more than 40 years, we’ve worked to build a strong local reputation through prompt, reliable service. Our technicians are highly trained and continue their education in their specialized fields so we can stay current with new technology. We enjoy what we do and welcome plumbing, heating, and cooling projects of every size for homes and commercial properties. Whether the need is residential service or a larger commercial or industrial project, our goal is to provide one dependable resource for plumbing and HVAC needs. Most of all, we aim to build lasting customer relationships and look forward to the opportunity to serve you.
