Primo Heating and Cooling LLC

Our roots in the HVAC trade reach back more than two decades. Our president, Alex, began with a rigorous four-year apprenticeship that emphasized real-world skills and later earned second place in Iowa’s statewide HVAC Championship. Before founding Primo Heating and Cooling, he spent more than 10 years working on large commercial new-construction projects, including churches, banks, and department stores, followed by five years in high-end and traditional residential homes. That experience taught us how to build reliable systems from the ground up and approach complicated comfort problems with care.

Alex’s brother, John, followed a similar path. He earned first place in Iowa during his HVAC Championship year, advanced to the national competition in Long Beach, and received silver along with first place in safety. Today, John serves as our lead project manager. Together, we bring a family work ethic shaped by hands-on training, discipline, straightforward communication, and pride in craftsmanship. We treat every appointment with the same care, respect, and follow-through we would want for our own families.

Based at 1320 Court Avenue in Chariton for more than a decade, we serve homeowners, farmers, businesses, churches, and other organizations throughout South Central Iowa, including Indianola, Osceola, Albia, Corydon, Milo, and surrounding communities. We provide heating and cooling repairs, installations, replacements, seasonal maintenance, indoor air quality improvements, boiler services, ductless systems, heat pumps, geothermal systems, and commercial and light industrial HVAC work. We also help with detailed HVAC design for new construction and thoughtful upgrades for older homes.

Our goal is to make each decision clear and manageable. We use thorough diagnostics, explain whether repair or replacement is the more reliable long-term option, and provide recommendations without pressure or upselling. From furnaces and air conditioners to air purifiers and humidity control, we tailor our work to the needs of each property. We install and service a wide range of equipment, including systems from Bryant, American Standard, Goodman, Lennox, and Mitsubishi, while staying focused on dependable comfort, healthier indoor air, and well-built results through every Iowa season.
