Northern Virginia Drilling

We have been drilling from our Manassas, Virginia, base since Jack Miller established Northern Virginia Drilling in 1988. Jack remains our owner and CEO and serves on the Board of Contractors. His son, Scott, grew up around the industry, worked his way through our organization, and now serves as president and general manager. Our 50-person team is at the heart of everything we do. We select our people carefully and count on them to bring experience, sound judgment, attention to safety, and respect for our customers to every jobsite.

Our work includes geothermal system drilling, water-well drilling, pump systems, water filtration systems, and service for existing wells and pumps. We complete commercial and residential water wells and work with homeowners, environmental engineers, HVAC contractors, and industrial clients. For HVAC contractors, we install geothermal heat exchangers used with water-source heat-pump systems. Our pump crews install pump systems, including constant-pressure systems, along with filtration systems. With 18 drills—including five dedicated to water-well drilling—we can match equipment to a range of projects, including sites where access is limited.

Experience in the field is central to how we operate. Our drill operators are trained and heavily experienced in drilling procedures, and our well drillers complete annual certification even though Virginia does not require it. We emphasize continuing education so our crews stay current with drilling methods, equipment, and products. Our project experience includes geothermal loop fields, HDPE supply-and-return piping, limited-access geothermal bores, and water-well rehabilitation. We have completed geothermal work for National Guard and VDOT projects and homes, as well as a thermal-conductivity borehole for a middle school. From Northern Virginia, we serve more than 22 counties in the region, four counties in West Virginia, two counties in Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Whether we are drilling a new well, servicing an existing system, or supporting a geothermal project, we focus on completing the work safely, efficiently, and correctly.
