Northern Heating & Cooling

We’ve been helping homes and businesses across the Great Falls region stay comfortable since 1963, when George Duffy started Northern Heating & Cooling with a commitment to honest, dependable service. What began as a single-truck operation has grown into a locally trusted, family-owned team led today by Phillip Lane. From our home base in Black Eagle, we continue to work by the same values that shaped us from the beginning: integrity, hard work, craftsmanship, and treating every customer like a neighbor.

We understand what Montana weather demands from a heating and cooling system. Whether we’re tuning up a furnace, maintaining a boiler, replacing an aging air conditioner, installing a ductless system, or improving indoor air quality, we bring care and professionalism to every project. Our trained, licensed technicians service all major heating and cooling systems and brands for homeowners, small businesses, property managers, commercial buildings, rental properties, and industrial spaces. We also provide 24/7 emergency heating response and bring decades of experience to steam and hydronic systems.

For customers interested in an energy-efficient alternative, we install, service, and maintain residential geothermal systems across Cascade County. We assess each property’s energy needs and land type, determine an appropriate underground loop layout, install the heat pump and ground loops, pressure-test the system, and explain its controls. This work is handled by our in-house team without subcontractors. Based at 2501 17th Street Northeast in Black Eagle, we serve customers within a 100-mile radius of Great Falls, including communities and neighborhoods such as Black Eagle, Belt, Cascade, Fox Farm, Gibson Flats, Valley View, and West Hill. Wherever we’re called, our goal is straightforward: to provide reliable heating, cooling, and indoor air quality service with clear communication and respect for your space.
