Northern Groundsource Inc

We are Northern GroundSource Inc., a Brimson, Minnesota geothermal contractor serving northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. Since 2001, we have specialized exclusively in designing and installing high-performance geothermal heating and cooling systems for residential and commercial properties. We began with a cold-climate installation in Esko in June 2001, followed one week later by a second system near Babbitt-Embarrass. Since then, we have completed several hundred installations across much of north-central and northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin.

Our approach begins with careful evaluation and sound design. We are fully credentialed in residential and commercial ground heat exchanger and ground-source heat pump system design, and our in-house technical expertise includes a Certified GeoExchange Designer credential from the Association of Energy Engineers. We are also NATE qualified and have been an accredited installer, dealer, contractor, and member of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association since 2001. We follow IGSHPA standards and do not compromise on geothermal sizing, design, materials, or workmanship simply to secure a project. If we believe a property or project is not a good fit for geothermal, we will say so honestly.

We work on projects ranging from geothermal retrofits for smaller existing homes to systems planned for larger new homes and commercial buildings. We also collaborate with architects and mechanical engineers on challenging residential and commercial-scale projects, particularly when site geology or accurate ground-loop sizing and design require specialized attention. Since 2004, we have also been called on to analyze, troubleshoot, and correct problems with inadequate installations, from straightforward solutions to more extensive upgrades and retrofits. Our experience includes leading heat-pump brands such as GeoComfort, Hydron Module, TETCO, ECONAR, Bosch, GeoExcel, WaterFurnace, ClimateMaster, and Bryant. From our Brimson office, our goal is to help each client consider the available options and pursue comfortable, efficient, and economical results through geothermal design that works by intention—not by accident.
