Nerthling’s Heating & Air Conditioning

We’ve proudly served the Erie, Pennsylvania, area since Carl Nerthling founded our family-operated heating and air conditioning business in 1952. Carl built our approach around a simple principle: we treat your home like it’s our own. His vision was to provide trustworthy, high-quality service at a fair price while helping customers enjoy dependable comfort through quality, energy-efficient products. After Carl passed away in 1980, his son Dave carried that vision forward with his wife, Chris, and their friend and general manager, Dave Straub. Today, Dave Straub continues to lead us with the same dedication to excellent heating and cooling service.

We treat our customers with dignity and respect, emphasize exceptional service, and work to complete each job correctly the first time. Every Nerthling’s Heating & Air Conditioning professional is certified by North American Technician Excellence, and continual training helps our team stay current with developments in our industry. We were the first Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer in the Erie area, hold an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, and have earned Mitsubishi Diamond Dealer designation.

We install, repair, replace, and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, and geothermal systems. We service all brands and can work with any make or model, whether a system needs repair or replacement with a newer, more energy-efficient option. Our goal is to improve system efficiency, maximize indoor comfort, and enhance the air quality in your home.

For homes and businesses in Erie, we provide personalized geothermal installation and replacement services, including custom load calculations based on the building’s cubic footage, floor plan, and envelope. We can design and install a new geothermal system, replace an aging geothermal heat pump, and provide seasonal maintenance through our NATE- and EPA-certified HVAC technicians. We also perform warranty and non-covered geothermal repairs in Erie for all heat pump brands and models.
