James A. Wheat & Sons, Inc.

We’re a family-owned and operated team based in Gaithersburg, and we’re proud to help homeowners throughout Maryland with plumbing, heating, and cooling services. We also serve customers in Montgomery County and Washington, DC. Honesty and hard work guide the way we care for our customers and employees, and we make a point of treating people like family. We’re small enough to know your name, yet large enough to take on a wide range of home-comfort issues. We understand how disruptive an unexpected problem can be, so we work to schedule service without making you wait weeks for an appointment.

Our approach starts with hiring quality people and investing in their continued development. Our technicians train weekly on customer service, equipment, diagnostics, and other aspects of their work. We also keep up with recalls, extended warranties, and notices involving the plumbing, heating, and air-conditioning equipment we may encounter in your home. That ongoing attention helps us arrive with the knowledge needed to assess your system and explain the service it requires.

For homeowners interested in an efficient, eco-friendly way to heat and cool their homes, we install, repair, and maintain geothermal heat pump systems. Our installation process can include a property evaluation, a design tailored to the home’s comfort needs, professional system setup, and handling the necessary permits and local compliance requirements. When a geothermal system needs service, we diagnose concerns involving components such as heat exchangers, loops, and controls, then make repairs using reliable parts. We also provide routine inspections, system cleaning, and performance adjustments to support efficient, comfortable operation. Whether we’re addressing a geothermal issue or another plumbing, heating, or cooling need, our goal is to provide dependable service and a positive customer experience.
