Hungerford Heating & Cooling

We have been part of the Richmond community since 1921, when the Hungerford family opened a coal company to help local homeowners heat their homes. Trains stopped beside our downtown Richmond headquarters to deliver the coal we distributed throughout the area. As home comfort needs changed, we changed with them while remaining committed to serving our neighbors with personal, professional service.

We later expanded into home heating oil and have safely delivered it to customers for 90 years. Our long history in the heating oil industry has also given us reliable purchasing power for both new and returning heating oil customers. By the 1970s, central heating and air conditioning had become common in Richmond homes, so we began servicing residential HVAC systems. Over time, we added indoor air quality and geothermal services to provide homeowners with more options for creating comfortable living spaces.

Today, we install and repair heating and air conditioning equipment, provide home heating oil, and design and install geothermal systems. Geothermal technology uses energy from the earth to heat and cool a home, offering a clean, safe, and energy-efficient option. We specialize in designing and installing modern geothermal systems that provide consistent heating and cooling. We are also a member of Mitsubishi’s Diamond Contractor program and offer high-quality ductless systems.

Although our services have evolved throughout our history, our commitment to customer satisfaction has remained constant. Our trained technicians provide prompt, professional service, and we believe every customer deserves personal attention. We are proud of our deep roots in Richmond and remain focused on helping our neighbors find comfortable options for their homes.
