Greatlakes Geothermal

We founded Great Lakes Geothermal in 2004 after recognizing a growing need for a team focused on installing geothermal loop fields using efficient and environmentally safe methods. Brady and Ryan Kerry brought that focus together with a family background spanning more than 50 years in the well-drilling industry. Since then, we have installed hundreds of loop fields throughout northern and central Illinois, completing projects that range from single-family homes to large commercial and government buildings.

Our work includes geothermal vertical drilling, well-field design and construction, thermal conductivity testing, header design, horizontal trenching, and system flushing and purging. We work with HVAC and mechanical contractors, completing geothermal drilling, thermal conductivity testing, header systems, and flushing and purging.

Brady and Ryan lead our team with a strong emphasis on education and participation in the geothermal and mechanical industries. Our professional qualifications and involvement include licensed water well drillers, accreditation as installers through the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association, IGSHPA fusion certification, and Certified Loop Installer recognition through the Geothermal Alliance of Illinois. Our involvement also includes an appointment concerning closed-loop well contractors by the Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health. We are members of IGSHPA, ASHRAE and its Illinois chapter, and the Geothermal Alliance of Illinois, where our participation has included founding membership, board service, and committee work.

From our West Chicago location, we serve Chicago and northern Illinois while also drawing on project experience across northern and central Illinois. Whether the loop field supports a home or a larger commercial or government facility, we bring the same focus to its design, drilling, headers, testing, flushing, and purging.
