We trace our roots to 1982, when Steve V. Gilbert Sr. installed his first geothermal heating and cooling system. The following year, Gilbert Plumbing & Heating was established with three employees. Since 1983, we have served customers across 20 counties in Southern Iowa and Northern Missouri. As a family-owned, full-service mechanical operation, we bring decades of practical experience to the energy and comfort needs of homes and businesses.

Our services include heating and cooling, plumbing, electrical work, spray foam insulation, and LED lighting. We help customers plan their projects and provide system installation, repair, replacement, routine maintenance, and practical advice. Our staff can evaluate a home or business to identify efficient energy solutions, including geothermal and modulating-compressor heating and cooling technologies. Our trained and certified technicians also take the time to answer questions and help customers feel at ease throughout the process.

We have continued to expand our knowledge, capabilities, and industry relationships over the years. In 1990, we formed a partnership with WaterFurnace International. We became a Lennox Industries Premier Dealer in 2011 and a Daikin Comfort Pro Dealer in 2014. In 2012, we moved into a 50,000-square-foot warehouse in Leon, Iowa, to accommodate our growth. That same year, we established Energywise Spray Foams and Coatings through a partnership with LaPolla Industries. We later worked with National Radon Defense on new initiatives and grew to three locations. Through these changes, we have remained committed to combining established experience with current practices—an approach reflected in our motto, “Where tradition meets performance.”
