Gibson's Heating & Plumbing, Inc.

Our story began in Waterloo in 1983 with a leap of faith by Mark and Christine Gibson. After Mark’s employer was purchased by a larger corporation, proposed changes to his pay and work vehicle led him to consider starting out on his own. He brought the idea home to Christine, who gave notice at her job, and Gibson’s Heating opened that November. A cold first winter and word-of-mouth recommendations helped us build a loyal customer base, including families we continue to serve today. We also hired our first employee, Norb, that same November and later honored him through our cartoon mascot.

In the early years, Mark spent most of his time in the field while Christine answered calls and kept the books. As we grew, we added employees and expanded beyond heating to include plumbing. About a decade into our journey, Mark began focusing more on how we operated and served customers. That shift helped establish our “Three Way Win”: our employees win, our customers win, and we win together. This principle continues to guide our decisions and our approach to service.

Today, we provide heating, cooling, and plumbing services throughout Northeast Indiana, Northwest Ohio, and Southeast Michigan. Our work includes furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, ductless systems, indoor air quality solutions, plumbing repairs, drain cleaning, water heaters, bathroom remodeling, water treatment, and preventive maintenance plans. Our employees are selected through a thorough interview process, undergo background checks, and receive ongoing training so they can work knowledgeably across many makes and models of equipment.

Although we have grown since our humble beginnings, we remain locally owned, family-operated, and rooted in the communities we serve. We listen carefully, explain available options, and recommend solutions suited to each customer’s needs and budget. We are proud to support local sponsorships, charitable initiatives, youth sports, and community events while creating jobs that help our team members provide for their families.
