ESI Heating and Cooling

Our roots date back to 1979, when Dan Bengel and his wife, Joann, started Dan’s Solar Supply and began installing solar heating units. As they worked to meet their customers’ changing needs, they became an authorized heating and cooling dealer and installer and renamed the operation Enercon Systems, Incorporated. Their son, Nick, was included in the family business, gained experience, and earned a degree from Ferris State University’s HVAC&R program. Together, Nick and Dan continued building the operation through the 1990s with an emphasis on quality products and attentive service.

Nick purchased the operation on January 1, 1998, and renamed it ESI. Today, we continue that tradition as ESI Heating and Cooling. Our highly qualified team has spent nearly 30 years serving Portland, Michigan, and the surrounding communities. We take pride in maintaining high standards, investing in employee training and certification, and developing personal relationships with the people who trust us in their homes. Giving back is one of the ways we show our appreciation for that trust and support.

We offer heating and cooling equipment and services, along with an Energy Savings Agreement program intended to help keep equipment operating correctly, efficiently, and safely. Agreement holders receive priority service and benefits that include 24/7 emergency service, no overtime diagnostic fee, and a 15% discount on repairs. We also help homeowners explore geothermal heating and cooling. We recognize that geothermal equipment can cost more initially than a gas furnace, air conditioner, or air-source heat pump, so our experienced team can assess a property and prepare a tailored estimate. Financing is also available to help divide the cost of new HVAC equipment, including geothermal systems, into manageable monthly payments. Throughout every service, consultation, and installation, we remain focused on quality work and lasting customer relationships.
