About Denning Well Drilling and Pump

We’ve been serving Eastern Idaho since 1962, when Duane Denning founded Denning Well Drilling Inc. after gaining experience with Charlie Cope and Cushman Well Services. Duane started with a used drilling rig that needed extensive repairs. He sold his pickup and other belongings to buy it, worked days in an auto body shop, and repaired the rig at night. After saving again for drilling tools and casing, he completed his first 100-foot well in Ririe and, with help from his brother-in-law Ervan, installed the pump.

From those resourceful beginnings, Duane added cable rigs and later moved into rotary drilling. In 1974, he purchased his first new rotary rig, a Chicago Pneumatic 650. His wife, Viola, and their children Mike, Jody, Dan, and Brook became involved in the work. When Duane retired, he sold the operation to his three sons. Today, Mike handles pump work, Jody and Dan drill, and callers will often speak with their sister Brook.

We are licensed, bonded, and insured professional drillers equipped for residential, industrial, irrigation, municipal, and geothermal projects. With 12 air rotary drilling rigs, we can drill small- and large-diameter wells up to 24 inches. We also provide complete pump sales and service, including filtration services. Our geothermal capabilities include drilling injection wells and installing vertical loop systems where available space is limited. Geothermal heating and cooling is also personal to our family: Jody and his son Jed have installed geothermal heat pumps in their own homes. From our Idaho Falls office, we continue the hands-on drilling and pump-service tradition that began with Duane’s first repaired rig.
