About Coy Landers Well Drilling
Our roots in well drilling reach back to 1890, when Emmett Landers began the work that would become Landers Well Drilling. From 1947 through 1997, our operations were led by Coy Landers. Today, we are based in Shelbyville, Tennessee, and owned by Coy’s son, Warren Landers, Emmett’s great-grandson. We are committed to providing quality, professional service.
We drill water wells and geothermal systems and provide pump installation and repair throughout Middle Tennessee. Warren is a Tennessee-licensed driller and an accredited installer with the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association, which sets standards for geothermal systems. We are members of the National Groundwater Association and the Tennessee Well Drillers’ Association. We are also accredited by the Better Business Bureau and participate as an accredited preferred contractor in the TVA network. For protection while we work on your property, we carry liability and workers’ compensation insurance.
Our geothermal work includes both open-loop and closed-loop systems. For an open-loop system, we drill a water well capable of producing the appropriate flow for the unit, along with another well for the return water. A closed-loop system may be used where an adequate water supply is unavailable. We drill multiple boreholes and install connected loops in a series. Thermally enhanced bentonite grout surrounds the loops and fills the remaining borehole space to support temperature transfer. Water and glycerin are then placed inside the loops, the air is purged, and the fluid circulates through the series.
