Central Electric

We are Central Electric Cooperative, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative providing electric power to more than 4,900 farm, residential, and commercial member-owners across Aurora, Brule, Buffalo, Davison, Hanson, Jerauld, Miner, and Sanborn counties in southeastern South Dakota. Our headquarters is west of Mitchell on Betts Road at 25487 403rd Avenue, near I-90 Exit 325. We also have outposts in Howard, Kimball, Plankinton, and Wessington Springs.

Our roots include Intercounty Electric, formed in Mitchell in 1944, and Tri-County Electric, formed in Plankinton in 1947. The two cooperatives consolidated in 2000 to become Central Electric Cooperative, Inc. Since the consolidation, we have expanded our range of sales and services for the general public.

Our qualified technicians handle appliance service, heating and cooling, and electrical wiring needs. We service all makes and models of appliances and sell GE and Speed Queen appliances. Our heating and cooling professionals provide maintenance and new-system installation. Our electrical services include farm, residential, and commercial wiring, as well as trenching, agricultural wiring, generators, lighting, and more. From our Mitchell headquarters and four outposts, we bring these services together as part of our cooperative’s work in southeastern South Dakota.
