At Baxter Heating & Air, our roots stretch back to the early 1900s, when Walt Hamilton founded Baxter Oil. Louis DeJong purchased the operation on January 1, 1928, beginning a family tradition that continues today. Our current owner, Dylan DeJong, represents the fourth generation of the DeJong family to lead our team. Although our work began with filling oil tanks around Jasper County, we expanded into heating, cooling, and indoor air quality services in the 1980s. Today, we provide HVAC, geothermal, plumbing, and boiler services for customers in Baxter and surrounding communities.

We are fully licensed and certified by the State of Iowa and SAVE-certified by Alliant Energy to test and document HVAC efficiency. We employ certified journeyman plumbers and properly licensed heating and cooling technicians. Every member of our technical team is factory-trained in geothermal installation and service, and we remain committed to continuing education as technology evolves. We are also members of the Iowa Geothermal Association, the Greater Des Moines Heating & Cooling Association, and the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association.

As one of the Midwest’s leading geothermal dealers and installers, we have completed hundreds of installations. We install and service several types of geothermal systems, including add-on options that can work with an existing furnace and ductwork. Our geothermal service area extends throughout the “golden circle” between Ames, Des Moines, Newton, and Marshalltown. We also install, replace, repair, and maintain boiler systems.
