Aztech Geothermal

We design, install, and service geothermal heat pump systems for homes in upstate New York from our base in Ballston Spa. Our work includes both new construction and retrofits, helping establish a renewable foundation for heating and cooling in new and existing homes. Most of the systems we install use closed ground loops, with either horizontal piping buried in an excavated area or vertical piping placed in drilled boreholes.

Our team brings practical experience to each geothermal project. On average, interior installation takes two to three days, while exterior work takes two to four days, with the two often occurring at the same time. If a home needs whole-house ductwork, installation may take two to four weeks depending on the home’s size and ease of installation. We also help homeowners account for electrical needs. Like other modern central heating and air-conditioning systems, geothermal systems require electricity, and they can operate on a properly sized backup generator.

We service the systems we install and help homeowners understand their routine care. Most of the geothermal heat pumps we install are factory-sealed refrigeration systems, while buried loops circulate a water solution at low pressure and can last for generations when properly installed. The mechanical equipment remains safely indoors, protected from the weather. Most systems switch automatically between heating and cooling and generally require an air-filter change a couple of times each year. Some customers arrange an annual visit from one of our technicians, while others perform routine maintenance themselves.

We also share our knowledge through industry education. Our president, John Ciovacco, has presented on geothermal fundamentals, thermal energy networks, and their growing use by investor-owned utilities. Five members of our team presented educational sessions at the 2025 NY-GEO Conference in Saratoga Springs, where we received the GEOSTAR TOP JOB Award in the Multifamily Category.
