American Htg & Clg

At American Heating & Cooling, we have served Hudson Valley homeowners, businesses and institutions since 1983. From our Poughkeepsie location, we install, maintain, service, repair and replace conventional and geothermal HVAC systems. Our work includes heating, ventilation and air conditioning for both residential and commercial properties, with a focus on high-efficiency air-source and ground-source heat pumps. We also offer 24-hour service.

We approach each project with comfort, quality and careful system design in mind. Our team works directly with homeowners, project managers, architects and general contractors, helping size equipment properly for each building. Our experience ranges from traditional high-efficiency systems to geothermal solutions from WaterFurnace, ClimateMaster and Dandelion Geothermal. We continually develop our technical knowledge so that we can apply current technologies and greener heating and cooling options where they fit the project.

Our work has included designing, installing and maintaining 30,000 square feet of high-efficiency and geothermal heating and cooling systems across Vassar College facilities, including classrooms, dining areas, residential halls and the library. For a historic brick Victorian home in Rhinebeck that had previously been heated with coal and then oil, we helped the homeowners pursue geothermal within a strict budget and directed them toward available federal and New York State incentives.

We serve Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Ulster and Westchester counties, as well as surrounding Hudson Valley communities. We hold mechanical licenses in the City of Poughkeepsie, Town of Poughkeepsie, Putnam County and Westchester. Whether we are planning a new installation, maintaining an existing system or responding to a service need, we bring decades of regional experience to the comfort of local homes and commercial buildings.
