American Heating and Air Conditioning

We have served homeowners and businesses in Greater Cincinnati since 1936, building our work around quality, reliability, affordability, comfort, and energy efficiency. Our story spans three generations of HVAC expertise passed from father to son. Bill Dempsey Sr., who served as branch manager of American Heating & Engineering in 1936 after leaving the U.S. Navy, took over the present operation in 1944. His son, Bill Jr., became president in 1956. Mike, a graduate of St. Xavier High School and the University of Dayton who spent his high school and college summers working on jobs, assumed management in 1999 after Dave suffered a spinal cord injury. Each generation has built on the knowledge of the one before it while remaining closely involved in the work.

Today, we provide primarily residential HVAC services throughout the tri-state area, along with services for businesses. We install, repair, and maintain heating and cooling equipment, including boilers, furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and geothermal systems. We specialize in Carrier furnaces and air conditioners, high-efficiency furnaces, and hybrid heat dual-fuel systems, while servicing all major brands. For geothermal heating and cooling installations, we work with ClimateMaster geothermal heat pump systems.

We approach every project as a customized comfort solution. We consider your home or business, existing airflow, duct-system configuration, HVAC challenges, and budget before recommending equipment and designing a system for your needs. Throughout installation, our staff handles the work or provides direct supervision. We pay attention to duct sizing and fit, insulation, electrical wiring, and secure refrigerant and fuel connections, then inspect and test the completed system for proper operation. Our relationship does not end when installation is complete: our service technicians are available for routine or emergency maintenance and necessary repairs. Our goal is to deliver lasting value in comfort and efficiency while building a long-term relationship with every homeowner we serve.
