Our roots in geothermal heating and cooling reach back to working alongside Louis DeMarco, a pioneer in the field. In 1982, DeMarco Energy Systems patented a concept that used municipal water with a geothermal heat pump to heat and cool homes and commercial buildings; the first patent was received in 1984. After years spent working to commercialize that approach, we founded American Geothermal Systems, Inc. in 2004 with a renewed focus on traditional residential and commercial geothermal applications, including ground-loop and lake-loop systems.

Based in Austin, we provide full-service geothermal heating and cooling installation for residential and commercial customers throughout Austin and the surrounding areas. We are an Accredited Bosch Contractor with more than 25 years of geothermal experience and over 400 systems installed in the Austin area. Our project experience includes military base housing, schools, commercial buildings, and homes. Our founder carries Master Mechanical Licenses in Texas, IGSHPA Certified Geothermal Installer credentials, and Master Geothermal Driller certification. His background also includes studies in geology, marketing, and finance at Texas Tech University, along with early experience working in water-well drilling.

We design and install geothermal systems with attention to both the equipment and the building envelope. We use ACCA Manual J software to assist with system design and have experience with structural insulated panels, insulated concrete forms, spray-in insulation, and other energy-efficient building technologies. Our capabilities include ground and lake loops, complete duct design, custom grilles, zone control systems, electronic air cleaning systems, and geothermal pool heating. We offer Bosch and Florida Heat Pump water-to-air and water-to-water systems for residential and commercial applications, with equipment sizes ranging from one-half ton to 30 tons in multiple configurations.
