Albemarle Heating & Air, Inc.

We have served Charlottesville since Tom Kavounas founded Albemarle Heating & Air in March 1988. Tom believed local homeowners and businesses needed superb quality and service centered on their needs rather than budget pricing. We started with five people, two old trucks, and a one-bay garage. Our customer-focused approach earned strong local support, helped us grow quickly, and established us as a mainstay in the Charlottesville area. Today, our team includes more than 80 people who bring extensive training and experience to every job.

We provide heating, air conditioning, indoor air quality, and plumbing services for homes and businesses. Our air conditioning work includes repair, replacement, and maintenance for central AC systems and ductless mini-splits. For heating systems, we repair, replace, and maintain furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, and geothermal systems. We also install geothermal systems and provide geothermal maintenance tailored to Virginia’s climate. Our NATE-certified technicians service gas, electric, and oil furnaces and boilers, and when replacement is needed, we assess the existing equipment alongside each customer’s heating needs and budget to recommend an appropriate option.

Comfort involves more than heating and cooling, so our work also includes air scrubbers, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and ductwork installation and repair. Our plumbing services cover drain cleaning, sewer line repair, pipe repair, water heaters, and related needs. From the first call, we aim to understand what each customer needs and provide service with total customer satisfaction in mind. When urgent heating or air conditioning trouble arises, our experienced technicians are available around the clock for emergency repairs.
