ACES-Energy

We began in 2009 as Alternative Carbon Energy Systems to meet a need in the Rochester area for renewable energy installations informed by careful study and practical experience. Our goal was to make innovative mechanical systems accessible to homeowners and small businesses. We partnered with equipment manufacturers, including WaterFurnace, and became a founding member of NY-Geo as part of our commitment to industry outreach and continued growth.

In 2013, we purchased our location at 7288 Rush Lima Road in Honeoye Falls. It serves as our office and showroom as well as a working demonstration space featuring a geothermal heat pump system, a solar photovoltaic system, and an electric vehicle charger. We have since shortened our name to ACES Energy and expanded our operations to support large commercial projects while continuing to serve residential customers. Over 15 years, we have grown to 15 employees and have worked with 34 New York businesses and more than 1,000 residential customers across 31 counties.

Our experience includes complex geothermal projects such as the conversion of the Genesee Co-op Federal Credit Union’s historic Rochester building. Because the site was considered a former brownfield, we followed the applicable New York State Department of Environmental Conservation work plan and partnered with LaBella Associates to meet its requirements. The project called for seven 500-foot vertical wells and included six geothermal units to meet the building’s heating and cooling needs. We also reused the building’s original chimney stack to route piping to the interior manifold and pump system. Using our purpose-built flush trailer, we can support pumping at up to 480 gallons per minute, hydrostatic testing, and the injection of antifreeze fluid into a geothermal loop. In September 2024, the credit union began heating and cooling its building with energy sourced from underground.
